Managing lymphedema requires consistency. The right daily practices can prevent flare-ups, control swelling, and improve quality of life.
Daily Care Checklist
1. Skin Care
● Keep skin clean & moisturized
● Avoid cuts, burns, injections, or blood pressure checks on the affected limb ● Use mild soaps and fragrance-free moisturizers
2. Compression Garments
● Wear your prescribed garment daily
● Replace every 4–6 months
● Ensure proper fit to avoid skin damage


3. Gentle Exercise
Activities like:
● Walking
● Swimming
● Cycling
● Deep breathing exercises
● Physiotherapist-guided lymphatic exercises
Movement activates muscle pumps → better lymph flow.
4. Elevation
Elevating the limb above heart level for 15–20 minutes helps reduce swelling.

5. Diet & Hydration
● Stay hydrated
● Reduce salt intake
● Maintain healthy weight
● Eat fiber-rich foods
6. Avoid Triggers
● Tight clothing
● Heavy lifting
● Prolonged sitting/standing
● Extreme heat (steam, sauna, hot wax)
7. Regular Follow-Up
Periodic assessments help adjust compression levels, detect infections early, and optimize results.
